SEMARANG – In a concrete effort to support global food security and reinforce its path toward becoming a World Class University, Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) successfully held an international guest lecture series through the Undip Global Classroom (UGC) program.
This program integrated international expertise into the Seed Technology course (2 Credits) by inviting a prominent global expert, Prof. Dr. Siti Nor Akmar Abdullah from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). The guest lecture was conducted in two comprehensive sessions on May 13, 2026, and May 20, 2026, coordinated by Muhammad Luqman Hakim, M.Si. as the lecturer-in-charge and Person in Charge (PIC) of the event.
Comprehensive Insights into Seed Quality and Innovation
During the two intensive sessions, the material was thoroughly discussed to provide students with a deep, scientific understanding. The core topics included:
- Seed germination physiology and dormancy mechanisms.
- Proper seed storage techniques to maintain long-term viability.
- Advanced methods for enhancing crop seed quality, including pre-planting treatments (seed treatment).
- Scientific methods for seed quality testing.
Beyond theoretical frameworks, Prof. Siti Nor Akmar shared her extensive research experience in developing seed technology for food crops in Malaysia. This provided a compelling comparative perspective with the current agricultural context in Indonesia.
