bio.undip.ac.id — Raihan Arsyad Anugrah Pratama, a final-year student from the Biology International Undergraduate Program (IUP) at Diponegoro University (UNDIP), has achieved remarkable success on the international stage. He brought home two prestigious awards from the Japan Youth Summit (JYS) 2026, held from May 11–14 in Osaka, Japan.
Organized by Youth Break the Boundaries (YBB), JYS 2026 focuses on empowering young leaders to shape a sustainable future aligned with the United Nations’ SDGs. Under the theme “Innovation Beyond Borders: Building the Future through Collaboration” and the tagline #InnovateForTomorrow, the summit challenged young innovators to tackle global issues through cross-cultural collaboration.

Collaborating within a multicultural team alongside peers from Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Hong Kong, China, and the United States, Raihan initiated a social project aimed at empowering marginalized groups. The team, comprising STEM and Forensic Science professionals and students, designed an SDG-based community platform to provide disabled individuals in remote areas of Indonesia with access to quality education and job opportunities.
“The issue of disability in remote areas often goes unnoticed, yet they possess incredible potential if given equal access,” Raihan stated.
Their inclusive project presentation successfully impressed a panel of judges consisting of corporate CEOs. As a result, Raihan’s team secured both the “Best Group” and “1st Place in Best Idea Innovation (Professional Category)” awards, overcoming a slight time limit overrun during their presentation.
Beyond the fierce competition, the four-day event offered global networking, cultural city tours around Osaka, and a lively closing ceremony. Raihan’s achievement stands as a proud testament to UNDIP’s global standards in fostering meaningful, real-world social innovations.
