A delegation from the Biology Study Program, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) conducted an academic visit to Kobe University, Japan, from June 8 to 9, 2026. This visit was part of Universitas Diponegoro’s World Class University (WCU) Program scheme to strengthen global academic networks while supporting the institution’s Key Performance Indicators (IKU) in internationalization.
The Universitas Diponegoro delegation was represented by program proposer Aprilia Nurul Aini, S.Si., M.Si., and Prof. Dr. Dra. Erma Prihastanti, M.Si. Upon arrival, the team was received directly by research partner Dr. Eng. Filemon Jalu Nusantara Putra from Kobe University. This meeting served as a strategic step to bridge scientific information exchange between the two institutions.
The main agenda included scientific presentations and exploratory discussions on research collaboration. In addition to the discussions, the delegation conducted direct observations and visited a laboratory at the Department of Chemical Science and Engineering, Kobe University. The scientific discussions focused on finding intersections between tropical insect ecology from Universitas Diponegoro and metabolomics and bioprocess engineering from Kobe University. This interdisciplinary approach aims to formulate measurable collaborative studies in the future.
As a follow-up to these meetings, both parties agreed upon and signed a Letter of Intent (LoI). The agreement document serves as a formal foundation to initiate various advanced academic agendas, including joint research collaboration plans and co-publications in reputable international journals aligned with each university’s research roadmap.
