SEMARANG, FSM UNDIP – The Department of Biology, Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM), Universitas Diponegoro (Undip), welcomed a working visit and held a joint research discussion with the Research Team from the Center for Applied Botany Research, National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). This strategic event took place on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the FSM Undip Campus, Tembalang, Semarang.
The visit from the BRIN team aimed to gain fresh insights and deepen specific research topics. On this occasion, the discussion focused heavily on the development and exploration of banana research in Indonesia.

The scientific meeting was attended by leading experts and researchers from both institutions. The research team from the BRIN Center for Applied Botany Research included:

During the welcoming remarks, Dr. Sri Widodo Agung Suedy, M.Si., serving as the Secretary of the Biology Undergraduate Study Program and representing the Head of the Biology Department, expressed his deep appreciation for the visit. He emphasized that this discussion serves as a golden momentum to forge a strong partnership.
“This discussion is a wonderful opportunity to build potential research collaborations for the advancement of science and technology. As a research-oriented university, Undip is always open to dialogue with research teams from any institution for the sake of scientific and technological progress,” said Dr. Sri Widodo.
Future Collaboration Plans
The warm and interactive discussion proceeded smoothly. The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement regarding potential in-depth research collaborations related to bananas in Indonesia—spanning from botanical aspects and conservation to applied technology.
The details of further concrete cooperation will be communicated in the near future. It is highly hoped that this collaboration will not only involve lecturers and senior researchers but also actively engage Undip Biology students, providing them with real-world national-level research experience alongside BRIN.
