The Biology Study Program, Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM) at Diponegoro University (UNDIP), has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting the national agricultural sector. Through the World Class University (WCU) program, UNDIP’s Biology department collaborated with industrial partners (DUDI) to hold a workshop titled “Detection of Disease Attacks on Potato Plants and Influencing Factors” in Selo, Boyolali, on Friday (22/5/2026).

This workshop was designed to bridge academic research with the real-world needs of local farmers. The event featured two main expert speakers:
Dr. Dra. Endang Saptiningsih, M.Si. (UNDIP Biology Lecturer), who thoroughly explained the types of “Diseases in Potato Plants” and the environmental factors that trigger them.
Adhi Nurcholis, S.Pd., M.Sc. (PT Adhiguna Jaya Laboratorium), who presented on “Tissue Culture Methods in Potato Cultivation” as a solution for providing superior seed quality.

The interactive discussion, moderated by Dr. Yulita Nurchayati, M.Si., was highly dynamic. Participants gained comprehensive insights ranging from early identification of disease symptoms to the application of tissue culture technology to produce healthy, virus-free, and high-quality potato seeds.
“This workshop is a tangible manifestation of the UNDIP Biology Study Program’s contribution to connecting academic research results with the needs of the community and the agricultural industry sector,” stated the organizing committee.
Through this synergy between academia and industry, it is hoped that the capacity and independence of potato farmers in the Boyolali region will significantly increase. The targeted implementation of science and technology is expected to drive more productive and healthy potato cultivation, ultimately supporting food security and sustainable agriculture in Indonesia.
